100 years of Scouts

I helped Scout community to celebrate their 100th anniversary.

Experiential and educational exhibition on the 100th anniversary of the beginning of scout activities in Holešov.

Exiting century

Like many other communities in The Czech Republic, even Scouts were celebrating 100 years of their existence. And because in Holešov there is a very active and ambitious group of scouts who love to engage with their neighbourhood, they decided to organise an exhibition to commemorate the incredible century they have been lucky enough to go through. When they asked me to help out with this project I took it as a challenge as I knew there was a potential in all the passionate people who run scouts in Holešov but I was also aware of a minimum budget available. Luckily thanks to the helpfulness of the town by offering outstanding space at the local historical castle and to the openness of all the generous collaborators we managed to organise a little miracle in the middle of an ordinary town.

Not just an exhibition

The main idea was to create not only a static presentation of the history and facts but to make a space that would become a temporary home to the community itself and all those people who want to take a peek on what it means to be and live as a scout. Therefore we prepared a number of interactive activities spread around the rooms, moved the scout clubhouse to the castle for the time of the exhibition an even managed to grow a forest in baroque halls. An additional layer to the whole concept was special educational programs for children of different ages prepared for local schools and other visitors. All these components resulted in a vibrant place the community immediately embraced and was more than happy to come repeatedly.
